Questions

How does the TOEFL 2026 band score relate to the old 0–120 score?
The 2026 TOEFL reports a 1–6 band in half-point steps. There is no official one-to-one conversion to the legacy 0–120 scale, so we show an indicative range: roughly band 4 ≈ 86–94, band 5 ≈ 101–109, and band 6 ≈ 113–120.
What CEFR level does each TOEFL band map to?
Band 6 aligns to C2, bands 5–5.5 to C1, bands 4–4.5 to B2, bands 3–3.5 to B1, and below band 3 to A2.
How do TOEFL bands compare to IELTS?
Indicatively, band 4 ≈ IELTS 5.5–6.5, band 5 ≈ 6.5–7.5, and band 6 ≈ 7.5–8.5. These are approximate cross-walks, not official conversions.
Is this an official ETS or IELTS conversion?
No. The CEFR alignment follows published descriptors, but the 0–120 and IELTS figures are our indicative interpretation. Always confirm requirements with the institution you are applying to.
