Complete the Words

A ~70-word paragraph where ten words are missing their endings — you type the letters back in.

  • Roughly a 70-word paragraph
  • 10 words have missing endings to complete
  • Reading section · deterministic grading

What this task is

Complete the Words is the fastest Reading task. You read a short connected paragraph in which ten words have had their endings removed, and you type the missing letters so each word is spelled and grammatically correct in context. It tests vocabulary, spelling, and how well you track meaning across a passage.

Instant, deterministic grading

Grading is deterministic: each completed word is checked against the stored answer, case-insensitively, so you get an instant, zero-cost score and an explanation. A blank or wrong spelling simply counts as incorrect — there is no partial credit per letter.

Strategy tips

  • Read the whole paragraph first so context tells you the exact word, not just a plausible one.
  • Watch the grammar: tense, plural -s, and -ing/-ed endings are the most common missing pieces.
  • Spelling counts — a correct word spelled wrong is marked wrong.
  • Don't leave blanks; an educated guess can still be right.
